Shavuot — sweet, milky and floury!

Shavuot is the festival of the giving of the Torah and the celebration of the first fruits—a holiday of gratitude for the earth’s first harvest. On this night, it is customary to stay awake and study the Torah so that all the nights of the year can be peaceful and restful.

As for festive treats, it is traditional to serve dishes made from flour to honour the wheat of the new harvest, honey cakes, and, of course, dairy products.

So today, we bring you everything sweet, milky, and floury: two desserts and a hearty pie. It’s a chance to start new family traditions, expand on existing ones, or try something different.
